How to enable Java and JavaScript in your browser

 
Netscape 3.xx 
  • Choose "Options" in the menu
  • Select "Network Preferences..."
  • Click the "Languages" tab
  • Check the "Enable Java" box
  • Check the "Enable JavaScript" box
Netscape 4.xx
  • Choose "Edit" in the menu
  • Select "Preferences"
  • Click "Advanced"
  • Check the "Enable Java" box
  • Check the "Enable JavaScript" box
Microsoft Internet Explorer 3.xx
  • Choose "View" in the menu
  • Select "Options"
  • Click "Security"
  • Check the "Run ActiveX Scripts" box.
Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0
  • If during setup, you selected "Custom installation" make sure you picked "Microsoft Virtual Machine" (which is not included by default). If you selected the "Typical installation" it's OK the Java Virtual Machine is included by default.
Microsoft Internet Explorer 6
  • Choose "Tools" in the menu
  • Select "Internet Options..."
  • Click "Advanced"
  • Check the "Use Java 2 v..." box.
 



 
Safari on Mac OS X
  • To enable both Java and JavaScript, select the Safari menu, then select "Preferences..." and click the "Security" icon. Make sure the following 3 items are checked: "Enable plug-ins", "Enable Java" and "Enable JavaScript". Make sure "Block pop-up windows" is unchecked.
Microsoft Internet Explorer 5 on Mac OS 9.x
  • To enable Java: select the "Edit" menu, then "Preferences...", then "Web Browser", then "Java". In the "Java Options" section to the right, make sure that the following 3 items are checked: "Enable Java", "Log Java output" and "Log Java exceptions".


  • To enable JavaScript: select the "Edit" menu, then "Preferences...", then "Web Browser", then "Web Content". In the "Active Content" section to the right, make sure that at least the "Enable scripting" item is checked.
